The Elene is a new 50-room boutique resort on five acres of vineyard land along the Napa Valley Vine Trail, between the city of Napa and Yountville, on the site of the original Red Hen cantina. It comes from Mosaic Hotel Collection and Napa Valley Land Company and is set to open in late 2026.
Rooms and suites have private outdoor living rooms with fire pits, soaking tubs and king beds. Once open, there will be a heated vineyard pool, a spa and sauna garden, a fitness studio, and a bike barn with a cycling program. Vetra, the signature restaurant, is built around open-hearth cooking with chef Matthew Accarrino of SPQR as consulting chef, alongside a bar and an all-day café.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Laird Family Estate is next door, Trefethen Family Vineyards and Hoopes Vineyard are about 5 minutes away, and Yountville is about 10 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 40 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes. The closest airport to The Elene, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 56 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 64 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 69 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
