Yountville · Napa Valley
A working winery just outside downtown Yountville, devoted to single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Anthony Bell founded Bell Wine Cellars more than three decades ago and became known for his research into single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon. He has since retired, and winemaker John Hazak, who joined in February 2020 after work at Provenance, Sterling and Beaulieu Vineyard, carries the work forward. The family-owned winery is led today by Ron and Dea Berberian.
Bell calls itself Napa's most prolific researcher and producer of single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon: wines made from one clone of the grape at a time, so you can taste how each one differs. The estate sits just outside downtown Yountville in the Yountville AVA, and it is a working winery, so the cellar team is often busy as you walk through.
Every visit is by appointment. The Grape to Glass Tour & Tasting starts with a stroll through the vineyard, moves past the tanks and barrels, and ends with five wines. Other tastings focus on Cabernet from different Napa Valley regions or on the single-clone wines themselves, each about 90 minutes.
$60 for the Grape to Glass Tour & Tasting, $95 for the All Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting and $150 for the Single Clone Cabernet Tasting, each about 90 minutes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
