The Chanric is a historic Victorian in Calistoga, once a seven-room bed and breakfast and now rented as a whole house, with seven bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and about 5,000 square feet of living space. It looks out at Mount St. Helena and the Palisades, with a small vineyard in the front yard.
There is a saltwater pool, heated April through October, and a hot tub, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor grill, a porch and gardens. Daily housekeeping is included, guests arrive to a welcome basket with two bottles of wine, and concierge services such as grocery stocking and private chefs can be arranged.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Sterling, Tamber Bey and Chateau Montelena are all within about 10 minutes, and downtown Calistoga is a short walk. We are based in Calistoga too.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 18 miles, 35 minutes. The closest airport to The Chanric, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 78 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 86 miles, 2 hours, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 91 miles, 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
