Barry Waitte founded Tamber Bey in 1999, leaving Silicon Valley for the Napa Valley of his childhood. The family winery, run with his wife Jennifer and later their daughter Kendra, made just 50 cases in its first vintage in 2001.
The name joins those of two of the family's endurance horses. In 2013 the winery moved to Sundance Ranch on Tubbs Lane, a working horse farm with 17 pastures and paddocks, where the family raises Arabian endurance horses and cares for polo ponies, rescues and retirees.
Guests taste stableside and meet the horses, with wines made by Sally Johnson Blum: estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay, along with Pinot Noir. It is a relaxed, memorable visit, especially for anyone who loves horses.
$50 to $75 for the courtyard tasting. $75 to $100 for the Equestrian Connection tour and tasting through the barrel room and stables. $125 for a flight of five Cabernet-based wines and $150 for the collectors tasting of library wines.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
