About the Property

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Napa Valley is an all-suite hotel on Soscol Avenue, near the Napa River just south of downtown Napa. It is a practical, good-value base, with free parking and easy access to Highway 29 and the Silverado Trail.

A free breakfast buffet is included, and there is an indoor pool and spa and a fitness center. Some suites have their own in-room hot tubs.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Tulocay Winery, Reynolds Family Winery and Ashes & Diamonds are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Oakland (OAK): about 50 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 48 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. A small, easy airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 58 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 63 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 15 minutes away. Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay on the site of a 1950s equestrian center on the Silverado Trail. The seated Signature Tasting is $55 and runs about an hour. Open Thursday to Monday; seated tastings by reservation.

2:30 · Monticello Vineyards

About 5 minutes away. Estate-grown Oak Knoll District wines from the Corley family, who have farmed this land since 1970, home of the Jefferson House. Open daily from 10:30 a.m.; walk-ins welcome as available.

4:00 · Back to Hawthorn Suites Napa Valley

About 15 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

Adds about an hour. Bordeaux-style reds led by Cabernet Franc and Merlot, in a mid-century-modern tasting room on Highway 29. The A&D Wines tasting of four wines is $70. Reservations required and prepaid; open daily from 11 a.m.
