A family winery on a former chicken farm on the Silverado Trail, with seated tastings on a terrace by a spring-fed pond, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Steve and Suzie Reynolds bought a rundown chicken farm on the Silverado Trail in 1995, complete with a boarded-up house and a few goats. Steve, a dentist, planted the whole property to Cabernet Sauvignon, sold his Napa practice in 1998 to go all in on wine, and released the first vintage in 1999. The family still lives and works on the property, and 2024 marked their 25th vintage.
The estate sits just south of the Stags Leap District, close to Soda Canyon Road, with a spring-fed pond in front of the vineyard and views toward the Atlas Peak hills. In 2011 Wine Enthusiast named the Reynolds Stag's Leap Cabernet Sauvignon number 10 on its list of the world's top wines, and the first blend, Persistence, followed in 2001.
This is a small, family-run visit rather than a production. You sit at a table on the terrace for the Estate Tasting of four core wines with charcuterie, or the Reserve Tasting of five wines made in just a few barrels each, including the Stag's Leap Cabernet and Due Diligence Cabernet Franc. Tastings are booked on the hour, so we time the pickup to have you seated at 10.
$50 for the Estate Tasting of four core wines with charcuterie, or the White Wine Tasting, each about an hour on the terrace (one tasting waived per $200 purchase). $85 for the Reserve Tasting of five limited, allocated wines with cheese and charcuterie (one tasting waived per $300 purchase).
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

All guests must be 21 or older; minors cannot be accommodated. No pets or outside food. Book for your whole party, since everyone in a group does the same tasting. Groups of 7 or more call the winery, and the visit may be shortened if you arrive more than 15 minutes late.
Pickup at 9:45 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Silverado Resort or Milliken Creek Inn.
Reynolds books tastings on the hour, so we pick you up at 9:45 to have you on the terrace for the first seating at 10. Silverado Resort, the golf and spa resort at the foot of Atlas Peak, is about 5 minutes from the winery, and Milliken Creek Inn, on the Napa River along the Silverado Trail, about 7. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The Estate Tasting on the terrace, about an hour ($50), looking out over the pond and vines. The Reserve Tasting ($85) swaps in five small-lot wines.
About 15 minutes away. A winery built entirely inside 45,000 square feet of cave in the Vaca Mountains, with a stream and waterfall running through the middle; guests love the walk through the tunnels before the tasting. The Vintage Tour and Tasting is $150, daily by appointment in small groups, and we plan about 90 minutes. 21 and over; wear shoes suited to the cave.
About 15 minutes away. Lunch at Grace's Table on Second Street in downtown Napa, a sit-down local favorite open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A family of Napa Valley growers since 1970, pouring in a pyramid-shaped, multi-level winery north of Napa. The Big Red's Flight of five red wines is $60 (complimentary with a $120 purchase); we allow about an hour. Reservations required; last tasting at 4 p.m.; families and well-behaved pets welcome.
Back by about 3:40 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
About $260 to $295 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. The fourth stop is there if the day allows.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
