About the Property
The Meritage Resort and Spa is a 322-room hillside resort in south Napa, set on 36 acres that include a 9-acre vineyard. Rooms range from kings and two-queen rooms to one- and two-bedroom suites, some with kitchens.
Spa Terra is an estate cave spa beneath the vineyards, and there are two pools heated to 80 degrees, one adults-only and one for families. Olive & Hay and Ember Steak are the restaurants, Crush Lounge has six bowling lanes, and The Village has winery tasting rooms on site. Up to two dogs under 80 pounds are welcome for a one-time $100 fee.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Saintsbury, Domaine Carneros and Etude Wines are all within about 20 minutes, and Yountville is about 30 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Oakland (OAK): about 48 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes. The closest airport to The Meritage Resort, and often quieter than SFO.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 48 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 55 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 61 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 20 minutes away. Spring Mountain Cabernet from the Frias family, who bought their 100 acres above St. Helena in 1977, poured at their Napa Tasting Salon in north Napa. The tasting is $85, waived with six bottles of Cabernet per couple. Private appointments only.
11:45 · Lunch at Oakville Grocery
About 15 minutes away. Sandwiches, salads and cheeses from the historic Oakville Grocery, open since 1881, eaten at the picnic tables out back. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
12:55 · Sullivan Rutherford Estate
About 10 minutes away. Merlot and Cabernet from a 26-acre Rutherford estate first planted in 1978 at the encouragement of André Tchelistcheff. The Founder's Tasting is $150. By appointment only.
2:15 · Napa Cellars
About 10 minutes away. A Trinchero family winery in Oakville, tasting in a geodesic dome on its original five acres. Guided tastings start at $40, and the Wine and Potato Chip Pairing is $55. Reservations recommended, and walk-ins are welcome.

About 30 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.
Optional: Maldonado Vineyards
Adds about an hour. A small family winery led by Hugo Maldonado, whose father Lupe managed vineyards at Newton for more than 30 years, with a tasting room in south Napa. Tastings are $35 and $45, Fridays and Saturdays. Appointments recommended.
