About the Winery

Manny Frias Sr. first came to know Napa Valley wine through a Basque friend while he was in college in San Francisco. In 1977 he and his wife, Maria, bought 100 acres in the Spring Mountain District. They planted their first 5 acres in 1985 and released their first vintage in 1987.

Today their sons, Fernando and Manny Frias Jr., run the winery. The estate has 13 acres of hillside vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, and the family also sources fruit from Oakville and Yountville. Todd Heth has been the winemaker since 2004, and the wines spend 19 months in French oak and are bottled unfiltered.

Guests taste at the family's Napa Tasting Salon in north Napa, on the Napa Valley floor, rather than up on the mountain. Each visit is a private appointment of 60 to 90 minutes, pouring the family's Cabernets in a relaxed setting with easygoing conversation. Tastings at the winery in Calistoga can be requested by email.

Tasting Fees

$85 for a private tasting at the Napa Tasting Salon, 60 to 90 minutes. $125 for a tasting at the winery in Calistoga, arranged by email. Fees are waived with the purchase of six or more bottles of Cabernet per couple.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
