Los Carneros · Napa Valley
Sparkling wine on the terrace of a French-style château, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting in Carneros.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Domaine Carneros was founded in 1987 by the Taittinger family of Champagne, who chose a 138-acre parcel in the heart of Carneros, the cool region where Napa Valley meets San Pablo Bay. Its château, set above the vineyards at the south end of the valley, is one of the most recognizable buildings in Napa.
Founding winemaker Eileen Crane led the winery for 33 years and was called America's doyenne of sparkling wine; Remi Cohen is now CEO. All the fruit comes from six estate vineyards, and Pinot Noir joined the sparkling wines in 1992. In 2003 the winery installed what was then the largest solar system of any winery in the world.
A visit means a seated tasting of traditional-method sparkling wines, from the vintage Brut to the Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs, on the terrace or in the salon, with optional caviar, oysters and small plates. It is a lovely, celebratory start to a Carneros day.
From $45 for the daily tasting of four wines, about an hour. $80 to $125 for pairings and tours such as oysters with sparkling wine or the Scent & Savor tour, and $175 for the caviar experience.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
