About the Winery

Napa Cellars was founded in 1976 on a five-acre estate vineyard along Highway 29 in Oakville. Founder Charlie Woods commissioned the geodesic dome that still stands on those original five acres. Today the winery is part of the Trinchero family's wine portfolio, and winemaker Joe Shirley has shaped its wines for nearly two decades.

The dome is hard to miss from the highway, and it is now the tasting room. The winery sits in the Oakville AVA and makes classic, approachable Napa Valley wines meant to be opened and shared: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and more, across its Classic, Winemaker Series and Reserve collections.

Visits are relaxed. Guided tastings start at $40 and run about 90 minutes, indoors or outside among the vines, and a 30-minute Flight Light suits a shorter stop. Walk-ins are welcome as space permits. Dogs get water, treats and a Napa Cellars bandana, and guests may bring a picnic to the outdoor tables.

Tasting Fees

$25 for Mindful Sips, a non-alcoholic flight of five wines (60 minutes). Guided Tasting Flights from $40, about 90 minutes, plus a shorter 30-minute Flight Light. $55 for the Wine and Potato Chip Pairing and $60 for the Futures Flight (90 minutes). $85 for the Vineyard Box Lunch and Wine Experience, about 2 hours.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
