About the Property

Indian Springs covers 17 acres at the top of Lincoln Avenue, on the site where Calistoga's founder, Sam Brannan, built his spa, mud baths and pool in 1861. The resort calls it California's oldest continuously operating pool and spa. Rooms range from View Rooms and historic cottages to bungalows, two houses and The Lodge, a building of adults-only rooms.

The Olympic-size mineral pool, fed by four thermal geysers on the property, is one of the largest in California, and there is a separate adults' pool. Mud baths use volcanic ash mined on site. Sam's Social Club serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and The Chaise Lounge looks after the pool deck.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Fisher Vineyards, Venge Vineyards and Envy Wines are all within about 5 minutes, and St. Helena is about 15 minutes south. We are based in Calistoga ourselves, a few minutes away.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 19 miles, 40 minutes. The closest airport to Indian Springs and the easiest arrival: a short drive over the hills from Santa Rosa, with no Bay Area traffic. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 86 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes, and 2 hours or more at busy times. The most flights, with the longest drive, across the Bay Area and up through Napa Valley.

Oakland (OAK): about 78 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO, and a slightly shorter drive.

Sacramento (SMF): about 91 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
