About the Winery
Maria Reznikova founded Maria Concetto Winery in 2020. The name comes from the Italian word concetto, meaning concept. The winery owns no vineyards. Instead it sources small lots, mostly from Napa Valley, Sonoma County and Mendocino County, and Maria takes part in the blending. Its tasting room on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Calistoga opened in 2022.
The room does not look like a rustic barn. Think royal blue velvet seating, marble tables, a hologram sign and a replica 1922 Model T. The best-known feature is RobinoVino, a robot that picks up glasses and pours wine for guests, with lights and a little dancing. Human hosts stay at the table to explain the wines and answer questions.
The list covers Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato, a rosé of Primitivo and sparkling wine. Flights run from two to five wines, with a sparkling and caviar pairing and a food and wine pairing with Bricco Osteria. Because it sits on the main street, it is easy to pair with lunch and other downtown tasting rooms.
Tasting Fees
$40 for the Robot Sommelier tasting (two wines). $45 for the Couture Tasting and $55 for Vino Virtuoso (four wines each). $65 for the Connoisseur (five wines). $75 for the wine pairing with Bricco Osteria and $95 for Sparkling Sensation with caviar.

Indian Springs Calistoga, a hot-springs resort on Lincoln Avenue, is about 2 minutes from the tasting room, and Solage, an Auberge resort on the Silverado Trail, is about 5 minutes away. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

About 15 minutes away. A family-owned, 50-acre vineyard and winery on the Silverado Trail in the St. Helena AVA, whose roots go back to 1841. The seated Vista Room Tasting looks out over the estate vineyard; $60, about an hour, with one fee waived per three-bottle purchase. By appointment for up to 6; last tasting at 3 p.m.

About 10 minutes away. A St. Helena estate on Big Tree Road, near Highway 29, where every tasting is poured on the outdoor patio and leashed dogs are welcome. Seated tastings are $40 to $55; we allow about an hour. By reservation; open daily until 5 p.m.

Adds about an hour. A St. Helena winery on Highway 29 built around a 150-year-old stone cellar, with tastings indoors or outside under the olive trees. Walk-ins are welcome for the Discovery of Napa tasting ($55), and leashed dogs are welcome; open daily until 5:30 p.m.
About $140 to $180 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
This day works Friday through Sunday, when Maria Concetto opens at noon. It opens at 1:30 p.m. on Mondays and 2:30 p.m. on Thursdays and is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so on those days we reorder the stops.
