Grape Leaf Inn is a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1900 for Swedish-born blacksmith August Lund, on Johnson Street in Healdsburg. It is now owned by the Wilson family, and its 13 rooms include two suites, set among gardens and century-old evergreens.
A gourmet breakfast is served from 8 to 10 a.m. in the dining room and on the patio. The Spa at the Grape Leaf Inn and a speakeasy are on site, and guests get tasting perks at Wilson Artisan Wineries. One dog under 50 pounds is allowed in select rooms for $50.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Rockpile Vineyards, Hirsch Vineyards and Stonestreet Estate Vineyards are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 11 miles, 20 minutes. The closest airport to Grape Leaf Inn, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 83 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 83 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 114 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
