Chateau de Vie is a small vineyard estate inn on Highway 128, just north of Calistoga, with two acres of estate vines and its own label of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Guests stay in the main house, Villa di Vie, or the Carriage House suite, and the whole estate can be booked for a group.
A two-course chef-prepared breakfast is served each morning, with coffee brought to the door. There is a lap pool and hot tub in the French gardens, walks through the vineyard, and a private tasting of the estate wines for guests.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Envy Wines, Tamber Bey Vineyards and Storybook Mountain Vineyards are all within about 5 minutes, and St. Helena is about 20 minutes south. We are based in Calistoga ourselves, a few minutes away.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 19 miles, 40 minutes. The closest airport to Chateau de Vie and the easiest arrival: a short drive over the hills from Santa Rosa, with no Bay Area traffic. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 87 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes, and 2 hours or more at busy times. The most flights, with the longest drive, across the Bay Area and up through Napa Valley.
Oakland (OAK): about 80 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO, and a slightly shorter drive.
Sacramento (SMF): about 93 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
