About the Property

The Lodge at Sonoma is a full-service resort and spa on Broadway at Leveroni and Napa Roads, about a mile south of Sonoma Plaza, part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. It has lodge rooms and suites plus cottages with private outdoor fireplaces, some with outdoor soaking tubs. It completed a renovation in 2021.

Wit & Wisdom is chef Michael Mina's wine country restaurant, and Benicia's Kitchen serves Latin-inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a central pool with the seasonal High Horse Pool Bar, The Spa at The Lodge, and a hosted wine tasting for guests each afternoon. Bicycles and a shuttle to the Plaza are included, and pets are welcome for a fee.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Bedrock Wine Co., Three Sticks Wines and Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 31 miles, 1 hour. The closest airport to The Lodge at Sonoma, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

Oakland (OAK): about 59 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 58 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 72 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 10 minutes away. Rhinefarm estate Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet from a family winery founded in 1858, with an old stone winery and caves. The Sonoma Original Bar Tasting is $30 and the seated Rhinefarm Tasting $45. Reservations encouraged, especially on weekends.

About 10 minutes away. French country cooking on the Sonoma Plaza, with a Rhône-focused wine list, cheese and charcuterie, and a garden patio. Open from 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 15 minutes away. Los Braceros red blend and Carneros Chardonnay from a family that came to California as vineyard workers. The Estate Release Tasting is $40. Reservations online, by phone or by email.

2:20 · Viansa Winery

About 10 minutes away. Italian varieties and the Ossidiana red at a hilltop villa above Sonoma Valley and a wetland preserve. The Classic Bar Tasting is $25 and the seated Terrace Tasting $60. Reservations required.

Adds about an hour. Rhône-style wines with single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, on the Sonoma side of Carneros, powered by wind and sun. Tastings run $45 to $65. Reserved in advance online.
