About the Winery

Sam and Vicki Sebastiani founded Viansa in 1990. Sam was a grandson of Samuele Sebastiani, who founded Sebastiani Vineyards in Sonoma in 1904, and he ran the family winery as president from 1980 to 1986. At Viansa the couple set out to share the culture and food of Italy along with Sonoma wine, and their idea of the tasting room as a place to host and feed guests helped shape the modern wine country visit.

The villa sits on a hilltop known as the Summit of Sonoma, above estate vineyards and a 97-acre wetland preserve beside Sonoma Creek that draws migratory birds and waterfowl. Viansa makes Italian varieties such as Sangiovese along with traditional Sonoma wines, and its flagship red, Ossidiana, is named for the obsidian in the estate's soils. Adair Family Wines, which also owns B.R. Cohn and Kunde, bought Viansa in 2024, and Meredith Leahy is winemaker.

Tuscan-style buildings gather around a courtyard, with a beamed, frescoed tasting room and terraces looking across Sonoma Valley. The Terrace Tasting pours a seasonal flight of four wines tableside, and the Italian Marketplace sells wine by the bottle and grab-and-go food for picnics on the lawn.

Tasting Fees

$25 for the Classic Bar Tasting, a standing flight of four wines, about 30 minutes. $60 for the seated Terrace Tasting of four wines, about 90 minutes. $120 for the Private Outlook Tasting of five Cielo Collection wines with cheese and charcuterie, about 90 minutes. $140 for the Enoteca Wine Library Tasting, weekdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Terrace and Private Outlook tastings are for members only on Saturdays.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
