About the Property
Rancho Caymus Inn is a hacienda-style inn of 26 rooms and suites on Rutherford Road, including The Casita, a three-bedroom private residence. It was founded, designed and built in the 1980s by Mary Tilden Morton, using reclaimed 19th-century barn timber, and has recently been restored. The Michelin Guide awards it one Michelin Key.
A made-to-order breakfast is included each morning, and wine tastings are held nightly from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There is a plunge pool and hot tub in the courtyard, and rooms have gas fireplaces. No pets, except service animals.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Beaulieu Vineyard, PEJU Winery and Cakebread Cellars are all within about 5 minutes, and St. Helena is about 10 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, a short drive up the valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 31 miles, 55 minutes. The closest airport to Rancho Caymus Inn, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 65 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 73 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 78 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
