About the Winery

Georges and Fernande de Latour founded Beaulieu Vineyard in 1900; the name comes from Fernande's exclamation, "Quel beau lieu!", "what a beautiful place." BV kept making wine through Prohibition by supplying sacramental wine to churches.

After Prohibition, the winemaker André Tchelistcheff, known as the Maestro, joined BV and helped shape modern Napa Valley winemaking. The Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon became one of the valley's first great wines, and BV calls it the original Napa Valley cult classic.

BV opened a new visitor center in July 2026 in its restored 1885 and 1887 stone buildings, with seven tasting spaces, a courtyard with a statue of Tchelistcheff and its first food program. Tastings range from an hour-long flight to library wines.

Tasting Fees

$50 for The 1885 Tasting, about an hour. $80 for the Heritage Tasting with seasonal bites and $95 for A Walk with the Maestro, each 90 minutes. $150 for The Georges de Latour Table and $300 for The Time Traveler, each two hours.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
