Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is a 226-room mission-style resort on 13 acres in Boyes Hot Springs, north of Sonoma Plaza. Captain Henry E. Boyes struck 112-degree mineral water here in 1895, and the Sonoma Mission Inn opened in 1927 after a fire destroyed the earlier hotel.
The 40,000-square-foot Fairmont Spa sits atop a natural mineral hot spring, and all of the pools are fed by mineral water. Santé is the signature restaurant, with 38° North in the lobby, the Spa Café and in-room dining, plus a daily lobby wine tasting. Guests can play the members-only Sonoma Golf Club, and pets are welcome for a fee.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Hamel Family Wines, Hanzell Vineyards and Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 27 miles, 50 minutes. The closest airport to Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 60 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 60 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 75 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
