About the Winery

Bruce Cohn, who began managing the Doobie Brothers in 1968, bought the Olive Hill property in Glen Ellen in 1974 and sold its grapes to other wineries for several years. He founded B.R. Cohn Winery in 1984, with Helen Turley as his first winemaker. Vintage Wine Estates bought the winery in 2015, and Adair Family Wines took it over in 2024.

The Olive Hill Estate Vineyard is planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon, and its old vines made the first 1984 Cabernet. The estate is named for its grove of century-old Picholine olive trees, and in 1990 B.R. Cohn began making estate olive oil, one of the first premium olive oils in California. Glenn Hugo is the winemaker.

Guided flights are poured at the wine bar or out on the patio, and three private cabanas look over the vineyard and oaks. The Studio Sessions tasting is held among original artwork by Grace Slick, John Lennon and Bernie Taupin, with records on the turntable, and the estate's amphitheater has hosted the Doobie Brothers, Willie Nelson and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Tasting Fees

$40 for the guided Wine Flight of four wines, about 90 minutes. $60 for the Reserve Wine Flight of five wines with cheese and charcuterie. $100 for the Studio Sessions Tasting of library and estate wines, for 6 or more guests, and $120 for the Estate Moke Tour & Tasting for up to 3 guests. Wine by the glass from $15 for walk-ins.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
