About the Property
Elm House Inn is an independent boutique inn on California Boulevard on the west side of Napa, formerly a Best Western Plus. Rooms are in the main building, an annex and cottages, and the lobby has chandeliers and an Italian marble fireplace.
A continental breakfast buffet with waffles, omelettes and pastries is included, and there is a fresh-baked cookie hour each day. The garden has a fountain and a ten-person outdoor hot tub, and some rooms have fireplaces. Self-parking is free, and pets are not allowed.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Trefethen Family Vineyards, Saintsbury and Robert Biale Vineyards are all within about 15 minutes, and Yountville is about 20 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Oakland (OAK): about 53 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to Elm House Inn, and often quieter than SFO.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 44 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 60 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 66 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

Adds about an hour. A small family winery led by Hugo Maldonado, whose father Lupe managed vineyards at Newton for more than 30 years, with a tasting room in south Napa. Tastings are $35 and $45, Fridays and Saturdays. Appointments recommended.
