About the Property
Aurora Park Cottages is a small group of private cottages on Foothill Boulevard, a short walk from downtown Calistoga, with decks looking out to the Palisades. There are king cottages, a queen cottage and the two-bedroom Aurora House, and the property has welcomed visitors since the 1950s.
A breakfast of fresh pastries and fruit is included, along with bicycles and the free Calistoga shuttle. The staff can arrange balloon rides and dinner reservations.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Envy Wines, Tamber Bey Vineyards and Sterling Vineyards are all within about 5 minutes, and St. Helena is about 15 minutes south. We are based in Calistoga ourselves, a few minutes away.
Getting Here From the Airport
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 18 miles, 35 minutes. The closest airport to Aurora Park Cottages and the easiest arrival: a short drive over the hills from Santa Rosa, with no Bay Area traffic. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 86 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes, and 2 hours or more at busy times. The most flights, with the longest drive, across the Bay Area and up through Napa Valley.
Oakland (OAK): about 78 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO, and a slightly shorter drive.
Sacramento (SMF): about 91 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 5 minutes away. One of the founding Cabernet houses of Napa Valley, known for its Martha's Vineyard bottling. Tastings at The Salon are $75 to $125, and walk-ins are welcome when there is room.
2:15 · Schramsberg Vineyards
About 15 minutes away. Up the wooded slopes of Diamond Mountain to the historic caves where Schramsberg ages its traditional-method sparkling wine. The cave tour with a tasting runs about an hour, about $100. By appointment.
