Appellation Healdsburg opened in September 2025 on 8.5 acres in Healdsburg's North Village, created by chef Charlie Palmer with architect John Hill. Its 99 rooms and 9 suites are in 12 buildings across two villages, all with private terraces, among culinary gardens, a citrus orchard and working vineyards. Travel + Leisure named it the No. 1 resort in California in its 2026 awards.
There is Terroir Spa and two heated outdoor pools open year-round. Dining includes Folia Bar & Kitchen, Andy's Beeline Rooftop and Appellation Kitchen. Dogs are welcome in some rooms, up to two, for $100 per room.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Jordan Vineyard & Winery, Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs and Trione Vineyards and Winery are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 13 miles, 25 minutes. The closest airport to Appellation Healdsburg, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 85 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 85 miles, 1 hour 55 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 112 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
