The Inn on First is an adults-only bed and breakfast in a restored 1905 home on First Street, about half a mile west of downtown Napa. It has 10 rooms, five in the main mansion and five garden suites, and it is green-certified.
Rooms have fireplaces and two-person jetted or soaking tubs. A full breakfast is included from 8:30 to 10 a.m., and parking is in a complimentary off-street lot. Dogs are allowed in three garden rooms for $75 per stay, one dog per room.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Trefethen Family Vineyards, Saintsbury and Darioush are all within about 15 minutes, and Yountville is about 20 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Oakland (OAK): about 53 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to The Inn on First, and often quieter than SFO.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 45 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 60 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 66 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
