About the Property

Sonoma Coast Villa is an 18-room resort and spa on a 60-acre property in a quiet valley five miles east of Bodega Bay. Rooms include hillside rooms, poolside kings, doubles and suites, and the Grand Residence, which sleeps eight to ten.

Rooms have wood-burning fireplaces, and there is an outdoor pool, an indoor jacuzzi and terraced gardens. Spa treatments, including couples massage, are in the Carriage House, and the grounds have nine-hole mini golf, a bonfire with s'mores and courtyard movies. Up to two dogs are welcome for a fee.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Black Kite Cellars, Freeman Vineyard & Winery and Emeritus Vineyards are all within about 30 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 23 miles, 50 minutes. The closest airport to Sonoma Coast Villa, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

Oakland (OAK): about 73 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 74 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 105 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 5 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 15 minutes away. Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Endless Crush rosé from owner and winemaker Kathleen Inman. The Estate Tasting is $30. Thursday to Monday; book online or by phone.

About 15 minutes away. Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay and Jackson Estate wines, with culinary gardens in Santa Rosa. The Taste of K-J is $20 and the guided Estate Wine Tasting $35. Reservations strongly recommended.

Adds about an hour. Single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, poured at Jasper House in Freestone. The seated Jasper House Experience of six wines is $40 and takes about 90 minutes. By appointment, prepaid.
