Dutton-Goldfield Winery

About the Winery

Dutton-Goldfield began with a handshake in a vineyard in 1998 between longtime friends Steve Dutton and Dan Goldfield. Steve is a fifth-generation farmer whose father, Warren Dutton, began growing grapes in the western Russian River Valley in the mid-1960s, when most people thought the area was too cool for quality still wine.

Dutton Ranch has grown from a 35-acre home vineyard to more than 80 vineyards covering over 1,000 acres in the western Russian River Valley. Dan Goldfield earned his master's degree in enology at UC Davis in 1986 and made Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at La Crema and Hartford Court before the partnership. The winery makes wines from Dutton Ranch and from single vineyards from Marin to Mendocino.

The tasting room is on Highway 116 at the gateway to the Sonoma Coast, with indoor and outdoor seating and walk-ins welcome. Flights run from the Farmer's Flight, which tells the Dutton family story, to a Pinot Noir Road Trip poured with soil samples from each vineyard.

Tasting Fees

$35 for the Farmer's Flight of five Dutton Ranch wines, or for the seated Discovery Tasting of five wines, about 60 minutes. $45 for Golden Coast Whites and $50 for the Pinot Noir Road Trip, each 60 minutes for up to 6 guests.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
