Lynmar Estate

About the Winery

Lynn Fritz bought Quail Hill Ranch in 1980 as a retreat from his work as CEO of Fritz Companies, a global logistics business, and later added six neighboring parcels to make the 100-acre Lynmar Estate. After UPS acquired Fritz Companies in 2001 he founded Fritz Institute, which helps humanitarian groups with the logistics of disaster relief, and oversaw the replanting of the vineyard. The winery, caves and tasting room were completed in 2005, and in 2008 Lynn and his wife, Anisya, made the estate their home.

Quail Hill Vineyard borders the western edge of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, 12 miles from the Pacific, and Lynmar also farms Susanna's Vineyard, planted in 2006, Adam's Vineyard in Forestville and Hessel Station. The vineyards hold fifteen clones of Pinot Noir and four of Chardonnay, and winemaker Pete Soergel, who joined in 2012 and became winemaker in 2017, makes some 90 separate lots in a gravity-flow winery with 10,000 square feet of caves.

The tasting room is surrounded by vineyards and gardens that also supply the kitchen of Chef David Frakes, here since 2011. The seated Wine Flight pours estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and seasonal provisions can be added. The estate runs on solar power, is carbon negative and farms with Certified California Sustainable practices.
