About the Property

R Inn Napa is a boutique inn a few blocks from downtown Napa, refurbished in the spirit of European art hotels, with artwork throughout.

Rooms open onto an open-air courtyard, alongside loft suites and a freestanding bungalow with a kitchen. Check-in is self-service by keypad, with staff on site during the day.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Ackerman Family Vineyards, Laird Family Estate and Trefethen Family Vineyards are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 45 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to R Inn Napa, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

Oakland (OAK): about 51 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 59 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 64 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 15 minutes away. Traditional-method sparkling wine and Carneros Pinot Noir, founded in 1987. The daily tasting of four wines is from $45, about an hour. Open daily by reservation, from 10 a.m.

11:50 · Lunch at Oxbow Public Market

About 15 minutes away. Napa's riverside food hall, with local vendors under one roof and plenty of choice for a group. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

1:00 · Clos du Val

About 10 minutes away. One of the first wineries in the Stags Leap District, founded in 1972. The Hirondelle House tasting is $75. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

2:30 · Robert Biale Vineyards

About 10 minutes away. Heritage Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, including Black Chicken, poured outdoors on the Back Porch. The Valley Vista tasting is $50, about 90 minutes. By appointment.

3:55 · Back to R Inn Napa

About 10 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

Optional: Ackerman Family Vineyards

Adds about an hour. Organically farmed Coombsville Cabernet from the Stonehaven Vineyard, poured on Randolph Street, a block from the inn. The Ackerman Tasting is $65. Tuesday to Friday by reservation.
