About the Property

Olea Hotel is a 15-room hillside boutique hotel in Glen Ellen, with rooms in five buildings, including two garden cottages. It was rebuilt after the 2017 Nuns Fire, with a new pool and hot tub and rebuilt cottages.

Rooms have heated bathroom floors, and the cottages have fireplaces and soaking tubs. A gourmet breakfast and evening wine and snacks are included, and there is a heated pool, a hot tub open 24 hours and a small spa room for massages. Select rooms welcome pets for a fee, and guests must be 13 or older.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Laurel Glen Vineyard, Gloria Ferrer and Benziger Family Winery are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 23 miles, 45 minutes. The closest airport to Olea Hotel, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

Oakland (OAK): about 63 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 63 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 81 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 15 minutes away. The village grocery on Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen, with sandwiches made to order for lunch on the go. Open daily from 6 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 10 minutes away. Overlook Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at the foot of Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood. The Exclusive Wine Tasting is $50 and takes about 90 minutes. Reservations required, Thursday to Monday.

About 15 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

Adds about an hour. Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the Laurel Glen clone on Sonoma Mountain, poured in Glen Ellen. The Classic Tasting is $45. Walk-ins welcome; a text ahead is encouraged.
