About the Winery

Louis Kunde, a German immigrant, bought the Wildwood Vineyards ranch in 1904, including what remained of Captain John Drummond's Dunfillan vineyard, first planted in 1879. His son Arthur kept the winery going through Prohibition, but it closed in 1945 when the family's sons went to war, and for decades the Kundes grew grapes for other wineries. Adair Family Wines bought Kunde in 2024, and fourth- and fifth-generation members of the family still farm and run the estate.

The estate covers 1,850 acres with about 700 acres of vineyard, more than 20 grape varieties and 1,000 feet of elevation change, on red volcanic soils. The Kundes became one of the largest grape suppliers in Sonoma before reopening the family winery in the 1990s and returning to bottling under their own name.

The 202 Lounge is named for BW 202, the federal bonded winery number stamped above the cave doors, and the caves are carved into volcanic rock. Seated tastings in the Kinneybrook Room come with cheese and charcuterie, and the Mountain Top Tour & Tasting climbs to a deck at 1,400 feet with views across Sonoma Valley.

Tasting Fees

$25 for a walk-in tasting at the bar in the 202 Lounge, or for the 90-minute Daily Tour & Tasting of the caves at 11 a.m., no reservation needed. $45 for the seated 90-minute Kinneybrook Tasting with cheese and charcuterie. $100 for the two-hour Mountain Top Tour & Tasting, Thursday to Sunday through November 8, or the two-hour Cave Tasting, Thursday to Sunday from November 12.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
