About the Property

Casia Inn is a small inn on Arnold Drive in the Carneros region south of Sonoma, on five acres of refurbished gardens. It was built in 1941 as El Bend Grande, named for the 'Big Bend' stretch of Highway 37 that later became Route 121.

A continental breakfast with local ingredients is included, and there is a heated pool (April to October), fire pits in the gardens and a spa. Dogs under 30 pounds are welcome for a fee, and the inn is not suited to children under 12.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Anaba Wines, Meadowcroft Wines and Viansa Winery are all within about 5 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 35 miles, 55 minutes. The closest airport to Casia Inn, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

Oakland (OAK): about 53 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 53 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 72 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 5 minutes away. Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and Sonoma County Zinfandel from longtime vineyard manager Tom Meadowcroft, a minute down Arnold Drive. A seated tasting of three wines is complimentary, and a paid flight of four is also offered. Open daily from 10 a.m.; walk-ins welcome.

About 15 minutes away. A roadhouse on the Carneros Highway at Carneros Resort, known for its donuts and fried chicken. Open daily; reservations are for dinner only. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

1:00 · Homewood Winery

About 10 minutes away. Vineyard-designate Carneros Chardonnay, Zinfandel and unfiltered reds from a small winery bonded in 1988. A tasting of five wines is $20, waived with the purchase of a bottle per person. Open daily; walk-ins welcome until 3:15 p.m.

2:30 · Roche Winery

About 10 minutes away. Carneros Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from founding Carneros vintners, with futures tasted from the barrel. The Select Tasting of four wines is $35. Open daily from 10:30 a.m.; walk-ins welcome, and reservations strongly recommended.

4:00 · Back to Casia Inn

About 5 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

Optional: Kivelstadt Cellars

Adds about an hour. Organic, minimal-intervention wines, including orange wine, in a tasting lounge on Broadway south of Sonoma. Lounge tastings run $30 to $40. Open Thursday to Monday from 11 a.m.; reservations on Tock.
