Valeriano Jacuzzi and his brothers came to California from Italy, and in 1920 he, his wife, Giuseppina, and the rest of the family emigrated to join them. The brothers built airplanes and later the water pumps, and eventually the bath and spa, that carry the family name. Valeriano bought a 161-acre farm in Contra Costa County, planted Zinfandel, Carignane and Mourvèdre during the Depression, and in 1936 was licensed to make wine for home use.
His grandson Fred Cline learned to farm grapes and make wine there in the early 1970s, and after founding Cline Family Cellars with his wife, Nancy, he opened Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in 2007 to honor his grandfather. The winery sits on 190 acres on Arnold Drive in Sonoma-Carneros and makes Italian varieties from Carneros, the Petaluma Gap, Lodi, Mendocino and Contra Costa County, from Nebbiolo, Barbera and Sangiovese to Arneis, Teroldego and Primitivo. The vineyards are farmed without herbicides, with sheep and goats to manage weeds, and Tom Gendall, from New Zealand, has been head winemaker since 2019.
The stonework and design of the building are a tribute to the Jacuzzi family home in Casarsa, Italy, and it also houses The Olive Press, with its own olive oil tastings. A Taste of Italy pours a seasonal flight with bread from Costeaux and an olive oil and balsamic dip, and the All'Italiana pairing serves Italian dishes family-style in the Grand Piazza. Cline, the family's other winery, is just across the road.
$35 to $50 plus tax for A Taste of Italy, a seasonal flight with bread and olive oil, 1 hour for up to 8; one fee is waived with each two-bottle purchase. $95 plus tax and 18% gratuity for the All'Italiana food and wine pairing, 90 minutes for 2 to 8, Friday to Sunday. $55 plus tax and gratuity for the Large Group Tour & Tasting for 9 to 20.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
