About the Property

Southbridge Napa Valley is a 21-room boutique hotel at the south end of downtown St. Helena, next to Merryvale's fountain courtyard, and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Every room has a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace and a Juliet balcony.

There is no restaurant, but a continental breakfast of local pastries and coffee is delivered to the room each morning, and guests have free use of Health Spa Napa Valley's heated lap pool, steam rooms and fitness center. The restaurants and tasting rooms of Main Street are a short walk.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Merryvale Vineyards, HALL St. Helena and Flora Springs Winery are all within about 5 minutes, and Calistoga is about 15 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, a short drive up the valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 27 miles, 50 minutes. The closest airport to Southbridge Napa Valley and the easiest arrival: a short drive over the hills from Santa Rosa, with no Bay Area traffic. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 77 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes, and 2 hours or more at busy times. The most flights, with the longest drive, across the Bay Area and up through Napa Valley.

Oakland (OAK): about 69 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO, and a slightly shorter drive.

Sacramento (SMF): about 82 miles, about 1 hour 45 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 5 minutes away. Home of Trilogy, one of Napa Valley's first proprietary red blends, first released in 1984. Flights run $40 to $125, and the guided Floralis Experience is $75. Reservations recommended.

About 15 minutes away. One of the valley's oldest family estates, with Cabernet Sauvignon from its own vineyard on the valley floor between Calistoga and St. Helena. The salon tasting is $90. By appointment.

About 10 minutes away. Back at about 3:40 p.m., with a little time left in the six hours.
