NIGHT Wines is the label of winemaker Scott Mangelson and vintner Heidi Bamburg. Scott moved to Napa Valley about 25 years ago and brings a background in microbiology to his winemaking. Heidi's love of wine began as a girl growing up in California, and she leans toward bold reds. Their library wines go back to the 2013 vintage, and the label is built around sharing wine, food and music with friends, at night.
NIGHT buys fruit from sites it knows well rather than farming an estate of its own: Spring Mountain and Mount Veeder for structured Cabernet Sauvignon, Carneros for cool-climate Chardonnay, and a valley-floor St. Helena site for Cabernet Franc. Current releases spend 14 to 22 months in French oak. Curfew, a tiny second label made in lots as small as ten cases, and library wines round out the list.
You taste inside The Saint, a candlelit wine lounge Heidi runs in the old Bank of St. Helena building on Main Street, in the St. Helena AVA. The lounge tasting is social, at the bar or a table. The NIGHTFall tasting is seated in the 1905 bank vault, with stone walls, velvet chairs and small food pairings. Most guests stay 60 to 90 minutes.
$49 for the Lounge Tasting at the bar or a table, no appointment needed. $79 for NIGHTFall, a seated tasting with small food pairings in the 1905 bank vault, by appointment. Most guests spend 60 to 90 minutes. $119 plus tax and gratuity for Lunch. Pair. Sip., a three-course lunch with paired wines, Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Good to Know
The Saint is 21 and over. Lounge tastings seat up to 6 per table, and the NIGHTFall vault takes up to 12 by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows, but reservations are the surer bet on weekends.
Pickup at 11:45 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Alila Napa Valley or Harvest Inn. The lounge at The Saint opens at noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so the day starts a little later than usual.
Stay close and the tasting starts right away. Alila Napa Valley, a Hyatt resort on Main Street, is about 3 minutes from The Saint, and Harvest Inn, a garden resort at the south end of town, is about 4 minutes away. The lounge opens at noon Friday to Sunday, so pickup is at 11:45. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
The Lounge Tasting ($49), about an hour at the bar or a table. The NIGHTFall tasting in the bank vault ($79) is by appointment and can run up to 90 minutes, which moves the rest of the day back 30 minutes.
About 17 minutes away. Lunch at Mustards Grill on Highway 29 north of Yountville, a Napa Valley restaurant since 1983, open daily from 11:30 a.m. (11 a.m. Friday to Sunday). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 12 minutes away. A family winery on the Silverado Trail in Rutherford that has made Pinot Noir from Carneros since 1969. The Vineyard View Tasting is $50 and about 60 minutes; this fall the Pinot Noir Lovers flight is also $50. Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment; 21 and over.
About 20 minutes away. A small winery in a restored 1800s carriage house on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Calistoga, where leashed dogs are welcome. Tastings are $30, waived with a two-bottle purchase. Walk-ins are welcome for parties under 6; reservations are recommended, and the final tasting is at 5 p.m.
Back by about 5:25 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
Adds about an hour. A Rutherford winery on Highway 29 where families are welcome (wine service is 21 and over). Walk-ins are welcome for the Taster's Trio ($40) when space allows; open daily until 5 p.m., so it fits best in place of an earlier stop.
About $129 to $159 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
NIGHT's lounge opens at noon Friday to Sunday but not until 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday. On a weekday we pick you up at 10:00, visit the other stops first, and finish with a tasting at NIGHT when The Saint opens at 3 p.m.
