Occidental Guest House is a set of three vacation homes in and around the village of Occidental, among the wooded hills, meadows and creeks of west Sonoma County. The Trees and The Farmhouse each have three bedrooms and two baths for up to six guests, and The Hills has two bedrooms and two baths for up to four.
The Trees sits on three secluded acres with hiking trails, an outdoor amphitheater and a redwood farm table for dinner outside, and The Hills has decks on three sides and a farm table on the ridge. Catering is available from the historic Union Hotel restaurant, just down the hill.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Black Kite Cellars, Marimar Estate and Square Peg Winery are all within about 10 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 15 miles, 40 minutes. The closest airport to Occidental Guest House, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 79 miles, 2 hours. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 79 miles, 2 hours 5 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 111 miles, 2 hours 45 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
