About the Property
Highland Dell Lodge was built in 1906 as the Highland Dell Hotel, on the Russian River in the redwoods of Monte Rio, and was renovated in 2006. The family-operated lodge says it is the only Russian River lodging run continuously under the same name. Its river-view rooms and riverside suites with balconies all have private baths and queen beds.
A continental breakfast is included for hotel guests. The on-site restaurant and bar has river views and serves German food in the evenings, closed Wednesday and Thursday. The lodge also hosts weddings in its events center.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Korbel Champagne Cellars, Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery and Hartford Family Winery are all within about 30 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 20 miles, 45 minutes. The closest airport to Highland Dell Lodge, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 87 miles, 2 hours. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 87 miles, 2 hours 5 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

About 10 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 5 minutes away. Dry-farmed estate Pinot Noir from Hallberg Ranch in the Green Valley. The Estate Tasting of five single-vineyard wines is $40. Reservations suggested, with walk-ins as space allows.

About 15 minutes away. Estate sparkling wine from one of Sonoma County's coolest corners, poured outdoors with a view. The Tasting with a View is $35. By appointment; book about two weeks ahead for weekends.
