About the Property

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley opened in 2021 on a 22.5-acre estate on the Silverado Trail, just south of downtown Calistoga. It is set within a working organic vineyard, with Elusa Winery and its tasting room on the property, and has 85 guest rooms and suites plus private villas.

Spa Talisa draws on Calistoga's geothermal springs, and there are two outdoor pools, one for families and one for adults only. Auro holds one Michelin star, and TRUSS Restaurant + Bar serves farm-to-table brasserie cooking. Forbes Travel Guide rates the resort Five-Star, and the Michelin Guide awards it one Michelin Key.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Sterling Vineyards, Clos Pegase and Venge Vineyards are all within about 10 minutes, and St. Helena is about 20 minutes south. We are based in Calistoga ourselves, a few minutes away.

Getting Here From the Airport

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 21 miles, 45 minutes. The closest airport to Four Seasons Napa Valley and the easiest arrival: a short drive over the hills from Santa Rosa, with no Bay Area traffic. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 85 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes, and 2 hours or more at busy times. The most flights, with the longest drive, across the Bay Area and up through Napa Valley.

Oakland (OAK): about 77 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO, and a slightly shorter drive.

Sacramento (SMF): about 90 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 15 minutes away. The stone chateau and Jade Lake at the foot of Mount St. Helena, home of the Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris. The walk-in tasting is $65, and reserved tastings and tours run $75 to $125.

11:45 · Lunch at Gott's Roadside

About 20 minutes away. Burgers, fish tacos and salads at St. Helena's classic roadside stand, with picnic tables on the lawn. Quick and casual, which leaves more time for wine. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

12:55 · Duckhorn Vineyards

About 10 minutes away. Merlot, above all the Three Palms Vineyard bottling, poured at an estate house among the vines. The Duckhorn Vineyards flight is $50. By appointment.

2:10 · Rombauer Vineyards

About 5 minutes away. The Chardonnay that has made Wine Spectator's Top 100 five times, tasted on a wooded hillside off the Silverado Trail. Hosted tastings are $25, and the cave tour with a tasting is $125. By reservation.

3:35 · Back to Four Seasons Napa Valley

About 15 minutes away. Back at about 3:35 p.m., with a little time left in the six hours.

Optional: Sterling Vineyards

Adds about an hour. Ride the aerial gondola to Sterling's hilltop tasting room for views over the top of the valley. The gondola is included with every tasting, from about $55. Reservations recommended.
