About the Property
Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Napa American Canyon is an all-suite hotel of 80 suites on Broadway (Highway 29) in American Canyon, at the south end of Napa Valley. Marriott renovated the hotel in 2019.
A hot buffet breakfast is included from 6 to 10 a.m., and there is an outdoor pool and whirlpool, a fitness center and a small convenience store. The hotel is smoke-free with a 24-hour front desk, parking is complimentary, and pets are not allowed.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Saintsbury, Domaine Carneros and Etude Wines are all within about 20 minutes, and downtown Napa is about 20 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Oakland (OAK): about 42 miles, 55 minutes. The closest airport to Fairfield Inn & Suites Napa American Canyon, and often quieter than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 50 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 52 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Sacramento (SMF): about 60 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 5 minutes away. The Oakville estate Robert Mondavi founded in 1966, reopened in April 2026 after a three-year renovation. The Pioneer Tasting is $60, plus an 18% hospitality fee. Book at least a week ahead for Friday to Sunday.

About 10 minutes away. Merlot and Cabernet from a 26-acre Rutherford estate first planted in 1978 at the encouragement of André Tchelistcheff. The Founder's Tasting is $150. By appointment only.

About 40 minutes away. Back by 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

Adds about an hour. Carneros Pinot Noir from Grace Benoist Ranch and single-vineyard Napa Cabernet, at the winery Tony Soter founded in 1982 on Cuttings Wharf Road. Tastings run $55 to $95. Appointments recommended, and walk-ins are welcome.
