About the Property
Churchill Manor is a Victorian mansion built in 1889 by banker Edward Churchill, in Napa's Old Town historic district one block from downtown. At nearly 10,000 square feet it is said to have been the largest Napa Valley home of the 1800s, and it was the first Napa Valley residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its 10 guest rooms are named for Napa Valley appellations.
The house keeps its original unpainted redwood woodwork and four grand parlors with fireplaces. A three-course breakfast is served in the sunroom or on the wraparound veranda, with an evening wine and appetizer reception each night. There are rose gardens, croquet, complimentary tandem bicycles and in-room massage.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Trefethen Family Vineyards, Saintsbury and Darioush are all within about 15 minutes, and Yountville is about 25 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Oakland (OAK): about 51 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to Churchill Manor, and often quieter than SFO.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 46 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 59 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 64 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

Adds about an hour. A Silverado Trail estate founded in 1977, rebuilt after the 2017 Atlas Fire and reopened in 2024 with more than 11,000 square feet of caves. The Estate Social Tasting is $50 and the Legacy Tasting in the caves is $125. By reservation.
