About the Property

1801 First is a boutique inn in a restored 1903 estate on First Street, two blocks from downtown Napa. Its 12 accommodations include suites in the main house, free-standing cottages and a two-level Carriage House.

Every suite has a fireplace and a deep soaking tub. A full breakfast is prepared by the in-house chef, and there is an evening wine hour with artisan cheeses on the garden patio. In-suite massage and spa treatments are available, and parking is complimentary. No pets, though service animals are welcome.

It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Trefethen Family Vineyards, Saintsbury and Darioush are all within about 15 minutes, and Yountville is about 20 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.

Getting Here From the Airport

Oakland (OAK): about 52 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to 1801 First, and often quieter than SFO.

Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 45 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.

San Francisco International (SFO): about 60 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.

Sacramento (SMF): about 66 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
