Drive Wines was started by John Musto and Tom Young, aspiring garage winemakers who learned their craft in the vineyards, wineries and classrooms of Sonoma County. The label describes its wines as inspired by connection, community and the Sonoma County lifestyle, and its journal follows the work of launching a wine business from the ground up.
Drive makes micro-production, single-vineyard wines from Northern California. Its best-known bottling is the 2021 Asti Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon, which was named among the top five Cabernets in America, and the top ten from America and France, in the "'76 Redo" tastings. Drive's winery license is at 1290 Dry Creek Road, the Comstock Wines winery at the southern end of Dry Creek Valley.
The wines are sold through Drive's online shop and its wine club, which offers limited-production wines, events and member savings. There is no tasting room or visit program, so Drive does not receive visitors. The day below starts at Comstock and heads north to Geyserville, near the Asti area that gives the Cabernet its name.
Drive Wines does not offer tastings. On the day below, expect about $95 per person: $30 at Comstock, $40 at Zialena and $25 at Trentadue.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
