Comstock Wines opened in Dry Creek Valley in 2015, created by Kelly Comstock, who leads its hospitality, and winemaker Chris Russi. Their idea was simple: build a place they would want to spend time in themselves, and make wines they love to drink.
The range is broad on purpose, drawn from the founders' favorite Sonoma County appellations: Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, Viognier and Merlot, and a Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine. The estate wines come from Comstock's winery and Home Ranch estates in Dry Creek Valley.
It is one of the more playful visits in the valley. Besides the bar flight, there is a private seated tasting that opens with a splash of Blanc de Blanc, a blind tasting where you guess five wines before they are revealed, and private painting classes among the vines with Healdsburg artist Nella Rubinstein. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic, and Comstock also pours at a second tasting room at Bacchus Landing.
$15 for the Estate Flight of five current releases at the tasting bar, daily, walk-ins welcome. $30 for the private seated tasting of five current releases with a welcome splash of Blanc de Blanc, daily, and $30 for the blind tasting of five wines, Thursday to Sunday. The painting class is priced on request.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

The Lodge at Healdsburg, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel on Grove Street, is about 5 minutes from Comstock Wines, and Montage Healdsburg, a resort in the hills north of town, about 15. About 10 minutes away. Jesse Katz's estate winery, opened in 2020, where gallery rooms built around the photography of his father, Andy Katz, look out over vines first planted in 1912; Katz was the first winemaker named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The seated Soil Series tasting of Bordeaux-style blends is $50 and the Site Series $75, each about 90 minutes. Reservations required, 21 and over.

About 15 minutes away. Tom and Sally Jordan's French-inspired chateau, founded in 1972 and named Best Vineyard in North America for 2025 by World's Best Vineyards. Jordan makes only two wines, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Valley Chardonnay, and every visit pairs them with food from the estate kitchen. A Taste of Jordan is $60, 45 minutes, daily at 3 p.m. By appointment only; the winery asks guests to arrive 15 minutes early.
Back in Healdsburg by 4:00 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. A Taste of Jordan starts at 3 p.m., so we leave lunch in time to arrive 15 minutes early, as Jordan asks.
About $140 to $165 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
