Alexander Valley · Sonoma County
A gondola ride through the vines of a family estate since 1959, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.
Book a Six-Hour Wine Tour
Leo and Evelyn Trentadue, lifelong farmers, left their orchards in what is now Silicon Valley in 1959 for 208 acres in Alexander Valley, drawn by its climate, soil and water. The land already had a story: in 1868 the French botanist Andrew Bouton founded Heart's Desire Nursery here, and Luther Burbank often came to visit him. Second-generation proprietors Annette and Victor Trentadue run the winery today, with the third generation in the business.
The estate vineyards include vines dating back to 1886, and winemaker Miro Tcholakov marked 25 years with the family at the 2024 harvest. The wines celebrate the family's Italian heritage and Alexander Valley roots, from estate-farmed varietals to blends and traditional Italian varieties, and Trentadue is also known for its ports.
This is a relaxed, family-friendly stop. The estate tasting pours five small-production wines, picnics are welcome on the grounds for guests who taste or buy wine, and leashed dogs are welcome too. The highlight is the gondola tour: a 15 to 20 minute ride through the vineyards behind a tractor, ending in a seated tasting of the estate's best wines, and children ride free with an adult.
$25 for the Trentadue Estate Wine Tasting of five small-production estate wines, complimentary for wine club members. $40 for the Gondola Ride and Private Tasting, about 1 to 1¼ hours for 6 to 16 guests, by appointment and weather permitting; children join free with an adult.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
