Bill and Kathy Jenkins have run Wing Canyon Vineyard on Mount Veeder for more than 30 years. Bill bought the 160-acre property in 1982, cleared about 10 acres for vines, and made the first vintage under the current owners in 1991. The land has a long history: Captain Stalham Wing planted vines here in the early 1860s, and the six bottles he entered at the 1864 Napa County Fair are described as the first recorded Mount Veeder wines.
This is mountain farming at its most hands-on. The wines are hand-bottled, the farm runs on solar power and no synthetic chemicals are used. The 2017 Nuns Fire burned about six acres of vines, leaving roughly three acres producing. Wing Canyon makes Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah in the Mount Veeder AVA, plus a Merlot under the LOLITA label.
The vineyard sits up a rough private road, and tastings are for the wine trade only, by appointment. Everyone else orders directly from the Jenkinses by email or phone; wines are invoiced, then shipped or picked up in Napa. So the day below takes you to two Mount Veeder estates that do host, and a third in north Napa.
Wing Canyon does not offer public tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 9:50 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Archer Hotel Napa or Andaz Napa, for a 10:15 start on Mount Veeder.
Since Wing Canyon does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Archer Hotel Napa and Andaz Napa are both in downtown Napa, about 20 minutes below Progeny on Mount Veeder Road, so pickup is at 9:50 for a 10:15 start. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 20 minutes away. A family winery in the Mount Veeder AVA, founded by Paul and Betty Woolls, with wide vineyard views from its hospitality center. The Classic Progeny Tasting is $100 for 75 minutes, including a library vintage. By prior appointment, daily; 21 and over.
About 20 minutes away. A mountaintop estate built around an 1889 stone winery high on Mount Veeder, with views across the range. The Classic estate tour and tasting is $135, about 60 minutes. Prepaid reservation, open daily; groups over four contact the winery first. The winery does not allow ride shares, so private transportation is the way up.
About 30 minutes away. Lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni, an Italian restaurant among the vineyards on Howard Lane, a valley favorite for more than 30 years, open daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 8 minutes away. A small family winery with a hillside Cabernet vineyard on Spring Mountain, pouring at a private, seated tasting in its north Napa Tasting Salon. $85, 60 to 90 minutes, waived with six bottles of Cabernet per couple. By appointment, with times from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 21 and over, groups of eight or fewer.
Back by about 4:20 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $320 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
The Mount Veeder roads are narrow and winding, so this day runs about six and a half hours, back by about 4:20 p.m. Mayacamas books small groups; parties of more than four should ask early.
