Terra Solis is a 6.3-acre vineyard in the southeast corner of Napa Valley, in the Coombsville AVA, close to the valley floor at about 100 feet. Andrew and Walter Noble planted it entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1997, using the French 337 clone on 3309 rootstock in six blocks, spaced European style at five feet by four, so the vines compete for light, water and nutrients.
The near-level vineyard grows in Sobrante loam full of volcanic ash and rock washed down from Mount George, with weather softened by San Pablo Bay. It is farmed entirely by hand, from pruning to harvest, by a vineyard manager who has known these vines for some 20 years. The estate Cabernet is made under winemaker Jean Hoefliger, and the 2022 CABi Cabernet Sauvignon was rated 93 points by James Suckling and Wine Advocate.
The wines, the estate Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay called Doni, are sold through the vineyard's online shop, with an email list for new releases. Terra Solis lists no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three estates nearby, in the city of Napa and Carneros, that do.
Terra Solis does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
