Stout Family Wines is the project of Guy Stout, who in 2005 became the second Master Sommelier in Texas, his wife Kim and their family. They planted a vineyard in the Texas Hill Country in 1999, and Guy's son Ian moved to Napa after college to work in the cellars. Drawing on Guy's long friendships with Napa growers and winemakers, the family made its first Stout Napa Valley Cabernet with the 2011 vintage, with friends Randy and Karen Porter helping build the brand.
From the 2013 vintage the family partnered with winemaker Tom Rinaldi, who made the wine at Duckhorn Vineyards for more than 22 years and established Provenance and Hewitt. The Cabernet is aged 18 to 24 months in French oak. A Cabernet Franc followed with the 2014 vintage and a Sauvignon Blanc in 2019, and in 2026 the family released its first Merlot, five barrels from Coombsville.
The wines are sold direct to consumers across most of the country, through a wine club, and on the lists of many restaurants and shops, with a pickup point in Houston for Texas members. Stout lists no Napa tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors in Napa; the day below takes you to three estates in the city of Napa and its hills that do.
Stout Family Wines does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
