About the Winery

Aaron Pott learned his craft in France, as winemaker at Château Troplong Mondot and then director of Château La Tour Figeac in Saint-Émilion. Back in Napa Valley he took over as winemaker at St. Clement in 2001 and moved to Quintessa in 2004, and Food & Wine named him a winemaker of the year in 2012. In 2004 he and his wife, Claire, bought 76 acres on Mount Veeder, and they launched Pott Wine in 2007.

The estate vineyard grows on ancient seafloor shale and sandstone, often above the fog, and is 100% organically farmed and picked by hand. Alongside the estate wines, Pott makes single-vineyard wines from sites such as Lagier Meredith, the neighboring Mount Veeder vineyard the Potts took over in 2022, and Garcia Family on Howell Mountain, plus two Napa Valley blends.

Every Pott wine is hand-crafted by Aaron and "available only to mailing list members," offered by allocation; you sign up on pottwine.com. The estate does not offer public tours or tastings, so there is nowhere to taste Pott in the valley. The day below takes you to three Mount Veeder and Napa estates that do welcome guests, starting near the top of Pott's own mountain.

Tasting Fees

Pott Wine does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 9:45 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Andaz Napa or Milliken Creek Inn.

9:45 · Pickup at Andaz Napa or Milliken Creek Inn

Since Pott Wine does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. We pick up at 9:45 a.m. because Mayacamas sits near the top of Mount Veeder, about 30 minutes from Andaz Napa in downtown Napa and about 35 minutes from Milliken Creek Inn on the Silverado Trail. The day runs about six and three-quarter hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · Mayacamas Vineyards

About 30 minutes away. A mountaintop estate built around an 1889 stone winery high on Mount Veeder, with privately guided visits. The Classic estate tour and tasting is $135, about 60 minutes. Open daily by prepaid reservation only.

11:40 · Progeny Winery

About 20 minutes away. A Mount Veeder estate founded by Paul and Betty Woolls, known for seated Cabernet tastings and food pairings high on the mountain. The Classic Progeny Tasting of three wines, including a library vintage, is $100 for 75 minutes. By prior appointment only, seven days a week.

1:20 · Lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni

About 20 minutes away. Lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni, an Italian restaurant among the vineyards on Howard Lane, a valley favorite for more than 30 years, open daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:45 · Jarvis Estate

About 20 minutes away. A winery built entirely inside 45,000 square feet of cave in the Vaca Mountains, with a stream and waterfall running through it. The Vintage Tour and Tasting is $150; we plan about 90 minutes. Daily by appointment, with a limited number of small tours each day.

4:15 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and three-quarter hours after pickup.

About $385 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Jarvis offers only a few small tours a day and often books weeks ahead, so we reserve it first and set the rest of the day around it. The day runs about six and three-quarter hours, back by about 4:30 p.m.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
