About the Winery
Ones by Sabonis is the family wine of Domantas Sabonis, a three-time NBA All-Star, and his wife Shashana. The couple moved to Napa Valley after his 2022 trade to Sacramento and made small batches for family and friends before launching commercially in November 2024. The name comes from one of his nicknames from his Indiana days.
The first release, reported by Wine Spectator, was a 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon from a CCOF-certified organic Howell Mountain vineyard farmed with regenerative methods, sealed with hand-dipped purple wax as a nod to the Kings. Winemaker Joe Harden makes the wines. The current releases are a 2023 Howell Mountain Cabernet and a 2024 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, both in limited quantities.
The wines are sold only through the online shop at onesbysabonis.com, where buyers sign up for updates. The brand lists Napa as its home and publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do.

Silverado Resort, a golf and spa resort at the foot of Atlas Peak, is about 12 minutes from the first stop in downtown Napa, and Milliken Creek Inn, an inn on the Napa River near the Silverado Trail, about 8 minutes. The day fits about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

About 12 minutes away. A private tasting salon upstairs in a historic downtown Napa building, pouring Beckstoffer and other pedigreed-vineyard Cabernets among the barrels. Into the Cellar, a seated tasting with food pairings for up to 8 guests, is $150; we allow about 90 minutes. By reservation; hours are set when you book.

About 18 minutes away. Lunch at Brix on Highway 29 near Yountville, a sit-down restaurant beside its own gardens. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 10 minutes away. Winemaker Helen Keplinger's Grenache, Syrah and Oakville Cabernet, poured in a private vineyard setting at Arrow&Branch in Oak Knoll. The Rhone Tasting is $85 and the East ~ West Oakville Cabernet Tasting $200, both waived with a minimum purchase; we allow about an hour. By appointment, booked online.

About 18 minutes away. A small family winery at the base of Mt. George, built by hand by its owners, who host every visit on the terrace, in the winery and in the caves. The hosted experience is $80, up to two hours. By appointment for up to 10 guests.
