About the Winery
Helen Keplinger earned her master's in enology at UC Davis in 1998 and apprenticed with Heidi Barrett and Kathy Joseph. She went on to work at Kenzo Estate, Arrow & Branch and Bryant Family Vineyard, and spent formative years in Spain's Priorat, travelling through southern France and the Rhone with her husband, DJ Warner.
Those Mediterranean years shaped Keplinger Wines, which focuses on California Grenache and Syrah from vineyards chosen for each variety, alongside Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. Helen also makes the wines of Grace Family Vineyards, Carte Blanche and Kerr Cellars, and the label has a second tasting home in Paso Robles.
In Napa, Keplinger pours at the Arrow&Branch winery on Solano Avenue in the Oak Knoll District, which the winery describes as a private setting surrounded by vineyards. Tastings are small, by appointment, and come in two styles: a Rhone flight, or a side-by-side of Oakville Cabernets from the east and west sides of the valley.
Tasting Fees
$85 for the Rhone Tasting of four Rhone-variety wines. $200 for the East ~ West Oakville Cabernet Tasting of three Oakville Cabernets. Both are waived with a minimum purchase.

About 20 minutes away. A small winery up Soda Canyon founded by Jason Moore, who started out as a waiter in Dallas, with tastings held in a cave at The Caves at Soda Canyon. The Classic Tasting of four to five current releases is $100 per person; we allow about an hour and 15 minutes. By appointment only, for parties of 2 to 10.
