Oleandri is the label of founder and proprietor Fred D'Amato, who comes from a family of winemakers: his grandfather Giovanni Vella bottled California reds, and his grandfather Onofrio D'Amato made the case for Italian reds and whites in the 1970s. The aim, in Oleandri's words, is to bottle wines from some of California's best known and most exclusive vineyards. The winemaker is Patrick Saboe.
In Napa Valley the sources include Georges III in Rutherford, planted in 1895; Stagecoach, with red volcanic soils high in the eastern hills, for Cabernet Franc; Broken Rock Ranch on Atlas Peak; Moulds Family Vineyard in the Mount Veeder area; and Game Theory on Howell Mountain, nearly 2,000 feet up. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay come from Rodgers Creek on the Sonoma Coast and the Sta. Rita Hills.
Oleandri sells through its website and a wine club that offers pre-release access to each vintage; club members can also host their own tasting events with Fred. Oleandri publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. Since Georges III ties the wines to Rutherford, the day below visits upvalley estates, two of which also pour Georges III Cabernet.
Oleandri does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Oleandri does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, two of them pouring Cabernet from the same Georges III Vineyard. Harvest Inn and Alila Napa Valley are both in St. Helena, about 10 to 15 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 15 minutes away. A small allocation house making Beckstoffer To Kalon and Georges III Cabernet, poured in the cave lounge at Hunnicutt on the Silverado Trail. The hosted tasting with light bites is $150; we allow about 75 minutes. By prior arrangement only; availability is intentionally limited.
About 12 minutes away. Winemaker Mike Smith's own label of Cabernet from Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, To Kalon and Georges III, poured at Brasswood north of St. Helena. Tastings are $125, about 90 minutes, usually four to six wines. By appointment, with priority for mailing list members; we arrange it on your behalf.
About 8 minutes away. Lunch at The Charter Oak in St. Helena, a sit-down restaurant cooking over an open hearth, open daily from 11:30 a.m. (brunch from 11 a.m. on weekends). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 15 minutes away. Bruce and Barbara Neyers' family winery, shaped by years importing wine from small French estates, hosts unhurried seated tastings in Oakville. $50 per person, about 90 minutes. By appointment, Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Back by about 4:35 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $325 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Boich and Myriad set times by arrangement, and Neyers hosts Thursday to Saturday, so plan this day for one of those days. The day runs past six hours; extra time is billed by the hour. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
